About the author:
Thomas Schöfer, born in Straubing in 1967, began learning the clarinet with Lothar Fischer at the age of 10 and has been playing the saxophone since he was 13.
1990 to 1992 attended the vocational school for music in the district of Deggendorf in Plattling, majoring in saxophone with minor subjects in clarinet and flute.
1992 to 1993 jazz saxophone lessons with Wolfhart Metz in Munich.
1993 to 1997 jazz saxophone studies at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg with Klaus Graf.
Since his studies he took part in numerous workshops, among others with Vincent
Herring , John Ruocco , Ernie Watts , Jerry Bergonzi , George Garzone and Dick Oatts .
Musically, he is at home in a wide variety of styles, such as jazz, Latin American music, rock, pop, funk, soul, rhythm & blues, boogie-woogie, rock'n'roll and rockabilly.
He had, among other things, appearances with Max Greger jr. , Charly Antolini, Davide Petrocca , Black Magic Big Band ( Galway / Ireland ) , Bill Haley's Original Comets , Dirty Boogie Orchestra and others .
He has been teaching saxophone and clarinet as a freelance teacher since 1991, since 1996 at the district music school of the district of Straubing - Bogen , and since 1997 at the Anton Bruckner Gymnasium in Straubing. Since 2005, Schöfer has been teaching the saxophone in the wind class at the Jakob Sandtner Realschule in Straubing.
